Robert & Betsy Bradshaw
Robert
and Betsy have been members of Wycliffe Bible Translators for
over 20 years, and work among the 1500 Doromu-Koki (DOE-row-moo
COE-key) people of Central Province in Papua New Guinea (PNG). There
are three main translators, Charles, Luke and Michael, whom
Robert has mentored in the Translators Training
Course (TTC) 1 & 2, and who are planning to attend TTC 3
in 2006. Over 800 verses of Old Testament Scriptures have been translated,
and nearly half of the New Testament is in first draft, or further
along in the checking process. The Gospel of Luke is completed
and will soon be ready for translation consultant checking and eventual
publication. There are others who have also worked on the translation
or plan to in the near future.
Robert arrived in PNG in 1987 and began working as a translator
among the 14,000 Fuyug people of Central Province in 1988. Betsy
went to PNG in1985 and taught missionary kids
at Ukarumpa, the Wycliffe center, for four years. They met at Ukarumpa
in 1988 and were
married in 1990. The Gospel of Mark was published in 1994, and
approximately 60 copies were sold. In 2000 their involvement with
the Fuyug program ended because of lack of interest. Betsy
also taught missionary kids with Wycliffe for two years in Brazil,
from 1983-85.
Besides serving as translation advisors, Robert and Betsy serve
the Papua New Guinea Branch in other ways. Robert is the Central
Province Regional Assistant Director, supervising the translation
teams in the region. He also is a grammar consultant, helping other
teams in the analysis of the grammar of the
language for which they are translated. Betsy is librarian at
the Ukarumpa International Primary School,
leads
worship for Primary Sunday
School, and is the Alternate Secretary for the Executive Committee
and recording secretary of the School Board, taking minutes
for all their meetings.
Their children, Jessica (5/31/92), Jonathan (7/8/95) and Christopher
(9/29/98) were all born in Papua New Guinea. The boys attend the
Ukarumpa International School where Betsy works, and Jessica is
at the middle
school.

Prayer Requests:
For wisdom and servants' hearts as Robert advises and mentors the

the other teams in their region.
That
the translators, especially Luke, Michael, and Charles, would continue
to desire to follow the Lord and translate the Scriptures faithfully.
For the Robert and Betsy's other responsibilities
on the center where they work, home to nearly 500 Wycliffe
members.
For continued good health and protection from malaria.
In Him,
Robert, for Betsy too
